At a young age I grew an admiration of the cowboy lifestyle and their ability to "tie up a few loose ends and hit the road again." While I'm in the backcountry on solo big game hunts, I can take on the persona of a lonesome cowboy, out here on my own. While on the trail they had to admire the landscapes of the west, empty of human impact. This photo was taken from a glassing point just outside of Dillon Montana as the full moon set over the Beaverhead river watershed during rifle season. Views like this keep me wanting to get deeper into the wilderness "Cause this ain't gonna be the first time, this ol' cowboy spend the night alone."
