The way the clouded light fades from the top right and into blue at the bottom left causing the seagull to be a silhouette subject, is my favorite part about this image. These shore birds are such an icon to coastal America. Although many may think their chirping can get annoying, I find it welcoming because I know I’m right where I’m happiest.
This photo was taken on one of my first rolls of film that actually developed into images. The first few rolls were totally out of focus or blown exposure resulting in unrecognizable shapes. Like many others this was taken on the bow of a skiff on our way out to fish coastal NC.
